Polonina “Caryńska” (Berehowska) in the Bieszczady mountains

One of the meadows called poloniny in the Bieszczady mountains.

The mountain range situated between the valleys of Prowcza and Wołosate, with the localities of Brzegi Górne and Ustrzyki Górne. In the moun- tain range of Polonina Caryńska there are four peaks of which the highest is Kruhly Wierch (1297 m) and the other ones are 1245, 1239 and 1148m high respectively.The panorama from Polonina Caryńska is vast and features a distinct range of Wielka Rawka, Połonina Wetlińska and a group of the highest tops of the Polish Bieszczady, including Tar- nica and Halicz.The term poloniny (meadow) comes from the village of Caryńskie (today non-existent), which was situated at the foot of the meadow. Still in the interwar period, the area was open pasture. Polonina Caryńska is protected as part of the Bieszczady National Park.
